Tramway Campaign: Latest Developments
On 27 April, 2004, a meeting was called by Bonnar
Keenlyside (consultants appointed by Glasgow City Council) that brought
together representatives of the arts to discuss the future of Tramway.
This meeting, also
attended by a representative from Glasgow City Council, resulted in a
series of constructive proposals being drawn up to safeguard the future
of Tramway with a focus on:
• Artistic excellence
leading to challenging projects that would result in increased attendance
• A clear local, national and international vision
• A long-term strategy with incremental changes along the way
• A shared emphasis on quality across the activities in the building
• Improved marketing, interpretation and education
• Better governance and the importance of creating valid posts to
be filled with the necessary expertise
